Gail Bishop, BS is the Clinical Coordinator for the Argus Institute. Gail provides on-site crisis intervention, grief education, and short-term emotional support for Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) clients and other pet owners referred to CSU's Argus Institute Support Service. She is a member of the VTH's clinical health care team to assist clients with all aspects of medical treatment and decision-making (e.g. surgery, cancer treatment, end-of-life issues like euthanasia planning), and to support during their grieving process. Gail also co-teaches fourth year seniors during Senior rotations, and coaches third year students in the Junior Practicum communication labs. She is also the faculty advisor for the Students for Human Animal Relationship Education (S.H.A.R.E.) student club and is the Co-founder and Co-faculty advisor for Colorado State University's Pet Hospice program, the first and only University VTH Pet Hospice program in the country. Gail's experience comes from 22 years of holding the positions of the Bereavement Services Director for Hospice of Larimer County, Grief Counselor and Outreach Coordinator for Allnutt Funeral Service and Co-founder and Interim Executive Director for the Suicide Resource Center of Larimer County. She has also completed over 250 hours in bereavement counseling and grief related education. Gail sits on the Board of Directors for Hospice of Larimer County and she is a Community Advisor for the Suicide Resource Center. She won the 1992 Larimer County Community Mental Health Volunteer Award and was one of the semi-finalists for the Channel 9 Who Care's Award in 1991. Gail and her husband, Jep Enck have two very well loved felines; Coal and Cooper. |
